CHCPRT001 Children at Risk - Mandatory Reporting

Post by GiniP » Sat Jan 23, 2021 3:19 pm

Hi,

I need to explain to junior staff their responsibilities in terms of MANDATORY REPORTING. My answer was:

"According to Commonwealth and NSW State Legislation, child educators must report suspected sexual, physical, psychological abuse, neglect and exposure to domestic violence of a child under 16 to their manager/supervisor, who then reports to child protection services (Section 23 and 27 of Children and Young Persons Care and Protection Act 1998 NSW, Accessed: 30/12/2020)."

The marker wanted me to review and amend this answer. I'm a bit at a loss. Maybe I should add what other professionals need to report and include Commonwealth Law ?

Many thanks for any guidance!

Have a look at the following:

What Is Mandatory Reporting

I think they want you to add that if you are suspicious of a child being abused in anyway that we have a responsibility to report it.

You could also add examples of abuse in your response as well.

Hope this helps!

Oh just remembered you can look at the decision tree in the above link and maybe write a sentence about it in your response as well.

Hello, Im new here and just enrolled in early learner 3 recently ,

I have confusion about this and my trainer is currently in annual leave. Please if anyone can help, it will be much appreciated :)

Scenario - You are a senior member of the team at your school, family day care, school age education and care service, or childcare centre (choose one). A junior member of staff has asked you to help them with understanding how to respond if a child made a disclosure of being sexually abused at home.

You are required to explain to the junior staff member:

1. What indicators were observed of any harm, abuse, or neglect?

Responsibilities in terms of:

a. Mandatory reporting

b. Protecting the rights of the child

c. Maintaining confidentiality

Thanks
Ellenel
