Scenario: ATSI Families Not Culturally Safe Within Your Centre

Post by jacqui-897 » Mon Jul 17, 2017 8:57 pm

The last section of this subject has -
"In the last few months the Sparkling Stars Early Childhood Education and Care Centre has identified numerous young Aboriginal families that have moved into the area and approached the centre to provide childcare services. Unfortunately they have not returned to accept the offer of place, and after investigation management has determined that these families do not consider your centre to be culturally safe from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective.

You have been given the task of identifying the main issues of concern that these families may have and put forward recommendations to cater to the cultural needs of these families.

It says at the end:
"You will be required to also produce documentation on the development and implementation of alternative strategies used to address issues identified in relation to:
1. cultural differences
2. workplace communication
3. workplace and professional relationships
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation, self-determination, and community control in relation to centre care policies, programs and/or service delivery"

I am unsure what documentation or what is required of me?
