CHCIC512A - Identifying Additional Needs & Short Term Goals For Children

Post by ashy!33 » Thu Oct 17, 2013 11:30 am

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCIC512A Plan and implement inclusion of children with additional needs
Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
(A) identify the additional needs of each child?
(B) Suggest short-term goals for each child?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
well i have read both my books i got when i started my course and they don't seem to help me at all... ive re read the questions again and again... ive answered one of them but not sure i'm right...
its on AJ i've put additional need behavioral
goal to help him interact positively and effectively with his peers and form relationships with other children this could be done by sharing games, controlled ball games taking it in turns rolling the ball to another child, memory or something of aj's interests??

if anyone can tell me if im at least on the right track with this one i'd be happy :)

i am just really unsure of what the additional needs are for the other scenario's :/

any help or guidance would be much appreciated thanks :)

Scenario: Monica
Monica, a quiet, 4-year-old, seemed particularly nervous one morning. She shadowed the educator and was tearful for most of the morning. As they were sitting together on the lounge for a story and a cuddle Monica said: “My daddy hits my mummy and makes her cry”. Although taken aback by this statement the educator responded: “I’m sorry your daddy hits your mummy, it must make you very sad and frightened”.

Identify the additional needs of Monica.
Answer-
A counsellor
Someone To Cheer Her up
Am i on the right track i need help

Another Question
Scenario: Complacency?
An analysis of accidents and near misses over the last 3 months involving both children and staff has revealed a disturbing pattern of possible complacency. The analysis shows:
Most accidents involving children occurred during late afternoon play in the outdoor area.
Most injuries and near misses involving staff occurred when setting up and packing away equipment (outdoors slightly more than indoors).
Injuries to staff under 25 years occurred at twice the rate as injuries to staff over 25 years.
The most common form of injury to children was falls.
The most common form of injury to staff was entrapment of fingers, dropping objects on feet and back strain.

I'm not 100% sure... It's referring to the additional needs of the child...

Scenario: AJ
Four-year-old AJ has been described by his educator as ‘4 going on 40’. AJ’s mother is a substance abuser and has been in and out of rehabilitation many times. AJ is very mature for his age and tends to act more like the parent than his mother. AJ is always hungry and he is often dirty and smelly. AJ craves affection and enjoys spending one-to-one time with his primary carer. AJ can be very aggressive towards his peers and finds it difficult to share.
a) identify the additional needs of AJ
