Resources Not Suitable For A Child With Hearing Loss

Post by li_bar » Sun Oct 30, 2016 2:27 pm

Hi Guys,

I am a bit stuck on these two questions:

1. List 10 existing resources in the room which are not suitable for a child with hearing loss development needs?

* Can be use of loud music or instruments??? - I have no more ideas.

2. Suggest ways in which service delivery or resources may be adapted or modified for this child in the context of a group setting.

* small group, speak slowly and look at his face allowing him to read lips???

Any help will be great

Thanks
Limor

These are the ones I can think of:

- CD Player
- Musical Instruments
- Bell (for packing away)
- CD Stories
- Sleep time music
- Blowing whistle for emergency procedure

(I think anything that can do with sound I guess)

For 2 - So, for this question you need to come up with alternatives for the child. The child may not be able to hear but they can see... Using visuals around the room will help the child understand what's happening. For example - for emergency procedures switch on and off the lights, learn simple sign language with the children, use visual images for routine etc.

Hope this helps!
