Re: diploma in early childhood
Read the scenario and answer the related questions, giving consideration to ethical practices.
Late Again
Mr Smith is late collecting Jonas again – his excuse was his car would not start. The Manger could smell alcohol on his breath. Mr Smith’s wife has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and is not well enough to drive. The Smith’s are new to the area and have no extended family support.
What would you do if you were the manager in this situation?
I would talk to Mr Smith and offer help to him at the same time advise him to live his life up to support his sick wife and take care of little child.
After responding to the situation, what questions could you ask yourself in order to reflect on your performance?
Will Mr Smith get offended?
Will the conversation be effective?
So far my answers are bounced back of the comment "you should answer in a professional manner." what professional do I need to answer?

Re: Scenarios On Ethical Dilemmas
Something like:
First off, Mr Smith is unfit to drive since he smells of alcohol. You need to calmly tell Mr Smith that he is unfit to drive and show compassion by acknowledging that his family is going through a rough time and understand the hardships he is currently enduring. Check Jonas records and find out if there is another authorised friend that can come and collect them both from the centre. If not, you will need to call a taxi to take them both home. You could also provide Mr Smith with information on supportive services that he can use to provide him with support during this difficult time.
Hope this helps,
,

Hi Lorina,
here's another question that I am not sure how I should answer in a professional manner
After responding to the situation, what questions could you ask yourself in order to reflect on your performance?
