Information Kept Private and Confidential

Why it is important to reassure family members that information is kept confidential at the service?

Could parents have special circumstances such as divorce or being separated that they don't want other families to know, their child could have an allergy, they don't want others to know their occupation or income etc... These are instances that parents may want this information to be private...
