Abuse and Their Indicators

Post by rach94 » Wed Feb 10, 2016 2:02 pm

can someone please help me I'm not sure about parts of this Question

2.8 Consider your role as an assistant educator:
• For each of the forms of abuse below list a minimum of three (3) of their indicators:
• What are the longer term child protection issues you need to be aware of for each form of abuse?
• Any reporting mechanisms that will apply in the workplace
• Strategies you can you follow within the scope of your job description
• Identify any relevant policies and procedures (refer to Sparkling Stars)
• Name at least one legislation or code of practice that you would follow in your state/territory
• Name at least one agency that your centre may have to consult or report to in your state?

I'm not sure about the longer term child protection issues, strategies, and reporting mechanisms.

All forms of child abuse can have both short and long-term impacts for children, and no two children react to harm in the same way. Some children show no observable effects of child abuse, while others show a wide range of signs. There may be long-term impacts even when short-term effects are not apparent.

Long Term Effects Include:

permanent physical injuries or death
low self-esteem
increased fear, guilt and self blame
distrust of adults
depression
suicidal thoughts and self-harming
anxiety disorders
attachment disorders
post-traumatic stress disorder
learning disorders, including poor language and cognitive development
aggressive behaviour and other behavioural problems
developmental delay, eating disorders and physical ailments
delinquency and criminal behaviour, including violence towards others
drug and alcohol abuse and high-risk sexual behaviour
difficulty forming relationships with other adults
behaviour that leads to them being singled out, bullied and victimised.

Hope this helps!

Maybe the different ways you can report... For example - online, by phone, forms etc.

Strategies and reporting mechanisms. It could be asking for the definition or for the step by step method of the strategy used to report and the mechanisms used, for example online forms. Is this the whole question?

my answer for the strategy is:

Act on all disclosures
Encourage early disclosure
Clarify unacceptable behaviour
Empower children and aduld to disclose
Be transparent
Be appropriate to criminal behaviour

iam not sure.this is correct.

'any reporting mechanisms that will apply in the work place'
reporting methods used within the work place, use your chain of command and the step by step method used to make a report. ( specify who you report what to and using what method) for example by phone, in person, written in your work diary, specific forms, etc.

'strategies you can follow within the scope of your job description
If you have a copy of your job description there is strategies in it that you can follow

I hope this helps. Sorry I haven't worked out how to attach files yet.
