Sleep Time :
- During enrolment ask needs of the children for sleep time. Asking Pattern how they sleep requirements and encourage children to sleep in order to meet their development and at the time that best suits their needs. Family and cultural differences shall be taken into consideration and respected regarding sleeping arrangements.
- Trying and thinking sleep time as a part of a child’s individual plan.
- Outcomes achieved if the child settled and not crying.
- Objectives are met if Child is settled without crying.
- A week settling program will be planned otherwise we need to make changes. At the Centre, the rest period is between 12.30pm and 2.30pm, however this is flexible to meet the needs of the children in care.
- Go through by the policies and procedures of Centre’s policies and guidelines like:
Ensure individual needs of children are being met.
Give children opportunities to make choices.
Provide a warm, secure, quiet, relaxed environment.
For the benefit of children and staff, children will be encouraged to rest or sleep according to the child’s stage of development and individual needs.
Children are not required to sleep or rest against their wishes or need
- Sleeping child monitored regularly with specific attention to breathing patterns.
- Children are provided with a high level of safety when resting or sleeping while in care.
- Educators supervise child with best practices which reduce the risk of SIDS and trying their best to distract the child from crying and caring child.
- Make sure we know the needs of the child by valuing the parent’s right to make requests and value in supporting children’s sense of belonging, fostering.
- All children will be placed on their back to rest when first being settled for a rest. If a child turns onto their side or stomach during sleep, then allow them to find their own sleeping position.
- All children will rest with their face uncovered
- Meeting the needs of the child and by observing.
- Sharing sleep information with family during drop off time every day.
- Staff and Management receive regular first aid training in resuscitation as defined by licensing regulations
