NAME:
Glass in buildings – Selection and installation
Connection:
The objective is provide a safe environment for children and prevent any sort of harm or hazard likely to cause injury. It is a requirement of any early childcare center to meet the safety, labeling and glazing standards with glass in their buildings in order to minimize the risk.
APPLICATION:
Only glass that meets the standard must be installed in the center. Any glassed area accessible to children that is of or below the height above floor level must be glazed with safety glass so that incase of any accidental situation the broken glass doesn’t shatter and spread all over for example windows. Outdoor areas or indoors areas could also be guarded by barriers so that it prevents the child from falling on it. The glass installation should be subject to wind loading, human
impact, and special applications such as overhead
Glazing, balustrades and glass assemblies.
