Hi,
I just need to know if I'm on the right track and if I have written enough of a response;
My answers are in blue
Conflict I
Educators in the 3-4’s room and the 4-5’s room take turns to plan the outdoor environment, with each team taking responsibility for planning for a two-week period. Educators in the 4-5’s room have complained that the other team isn’t giving enough thought to the needs of the older children when planning. They also complain that the other team isn’t encouraging their children to take responsibility for helping to pack away before going indoors. The Director has also received a complaint from the room leader in the 3-4’s room who says that the educators in the other preschool room are not consulting with her team in relation to outdoor planning and that often the plan is not placed on the noticeboard until Monday morning.
Currently the agreed process is:
• Each team plans for a two-week period
• One educator from each team is responsible for communicating the plan and identifying any specific requirements the other team may have for their group of children (or for individual children). These educators are also responsible for communicating any changes or additions to the planned program.
• The written plan is placed on the noticeboard in each room on Friday afternoon ready for the two-week cycle.
• The team undertaking the planning is responsible for setting up while both teams are responsible for packing away.
The Director decides to meet with the two room leaders to resolve the conflict before it escalates.
In relation to the scenario Conflict I use the 6 conflict resolution steps to address the conflict.
Step Action to be taken
Step 1: Define the Problem
The Educators are not communicating effectively with each other.
Step 2: Identify the desired outcome
The two teams will communicate effectively and cooperate with each other. The two teams will take turns to coordinate the outdoor environment for a fortnight. The two room leaders will communicate their group needs to each other every Wednesday. The written plan will be put on the noticeboard in each room every Friday morning. The team that is planning the environment is responsible for setting up, while the other team is responsible for packing away.
Step 3: Gather Information
Speak to the two room leaders individually, what outcome do they want to achieve.
Team 1 (4-5 years) are not communicating the outdoor plan with team 2 (3-4 years). They are also late in putting the plan up.
Team 2 is not communicating the outdoor planning to team 1. They are also forgetting to pack away the outdoor environment in the afternoon.
Step 4: Plan and select the best solution
The teams will communicate more effectively by writing up what their group will require on the outdoor whiteboard as the week unfolds. This will ensure that the team responsible for planning the outdoor space is aware of what the other team needs.
Step 5: Implement the planned solution
The Director will meet with the teams individually at the conclusion of each week for the first two months to ensure they are both doing their part in relation to writing their groups needs on the outdoor whiteboard and communicating effectively with each other.
Step 6: Follow Up and evaluate the solution
Measure the success by meeting with the teams individually each month and asking them open ended questions.
Evaluate the solution by measuring staff satisfaction through a survey.

Re: CHCORG506E: Scenario - Conflicts Between The Preschool Rooms
I think your answers are good! Seems like you worked out how to deal with the issue between the 2 rooms and writing their ideas on the whiteboard throughout the week is a great idea!
