Scenario: Kalindi Out Of School Hours Care

Post by Amanmann » Tue Dec 22, 2015 4:59 pm

Is these Answers ok ????

You are an educator at Kalindi Out of School Hours Care service with a team of 8 educators job sharing across the week, each have varying experience and qualifications. You have just started this job, whilst some educators have been employed at the service for many years.
Jason, the leading educator, casually mentions to you and another team member that he would like to change the program routine in the morning session, starting next week. You agree with his suggestions however the other educator disagrees.
Janis has been allocated as your supervisor and mentor in your new role. Part of your job responsibilities is to contribute to the development of the curriculum and the service uses a software computer package to record observations and plan the weekly program. You are not familiar with this program and don’t think you can meet the deadline at the end of the week.

Q1 Identify 2 communication methods that would ensure information is shared consistently to all educators across the team.

ans Communication methods are:
1. Send information to all educators via email ;
2. Staff meetings;
3. Put a notice on the noticeboard.

Q2 Identify 2 tasks where you would co-operate with others or work as a group to achieve positive outcomes.

Ans
1. Work with staff members to ensure smooth operation of the day to day running of the centre in accordance to centre’s policies and procedures;
Contribute to and assist in the development and /or evaluation of the programme.

Communication methods are:

- You could also include a staff communication book - staff need to sign below message once they have read it.
- A staff meeting is good to share communication but sometimes staff meeting only occur once a week/month so it's not very useful for daily messages

Identify 2 tasks where you would co-operate with others or work as a group to achieve positive outcomes.

You could also include:
- Get support from Janis to assist you in the software computer package to help you write he program/observations

Hope this helps,

i did more question of this scenario .. can you please check if these answers are ok .. because its my first assessment so little bit nervous whether i am writing right or wrong

Q1 Identify 2 things that you would do to show respect when working with people from diverse backgrounds, ages and abilities.

According to EYLF Principle 4 Respect for diversity I will do following to show respect to diverse backgrounds, ages and abilities:
1. I will be open to different cultural perspectives, strengthen cultural security and work toward equality;
2. I will understand other’s expectations and attitudes.

Q2 Referring to Jason’s change to the program routine, identify 2 ways to respect the opinions of different educators.
1. By being a good listener, it’s a way to show others that I have respect for their opinions;
2. By asking lot of questions, it doesn't mean that I don't believe them, it means that they have more to give.

Q3 Identify who you could report to for further support if conflict arises over the issue of the program alteration
I could report to supervisor or appropriate person for further support if any conflict arises over the issue of program alteration.

Q4 Identify 2 ways you could carry out the programming task to the services expectations and continue to improve your skills over time.

Ans
1. Focus on ways to meet service’s expectations by communicating with supervisor, asking questions;
2. Be flexible with changes in technology, changes to your team;
3 Keep programming skills up to date

Your responses are god! :thumbup:

Just with the following response:

1. I will be open to different cultural perspectives, strengthen cultural security and work toward equality;
2.I will understand other’s expectations and attitudes.

1. How will you be open? Will you build upon your understanding of different cultures, will you give everyone an opportunity to express their views from their perspectives?
2. How will you understand? Will you ask questions to gain knowledge from others cultural perspectives?

Just getting you to think about exactly what you will do...

I think the rest of your responses are good!
