About The EYLF & MTOP Frameworks

Hi, this EYLF is doing my head in big time and I seem to be going around in circles, can you please help me with these questions?? I know exactly where to look for the info but cant seem to understand what I need to write for it

What are the primary goals for the frameworks? EYLF and My Time, Our Place?
For EYLF I wrote: Ongoing learning and reflective practice is one of the key principles of the Framework. Reflective practice is a form of ongoing learning that involves engaging with questions of philosophy, ethics and practice.
EYLF helps children with the transition into schooling by giving them opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in learning.
It provides a guide about the roles and responsibilities of educators
Learning framework: a guide which provides general goals or outcomes for children’s learning and how they might be attained. It also provides a scaffold to assist early childhood settings to develop their own, more detailed curriculum.
For My Time, Our PLace I wrote: Ongoing learning and reflective practice is one of the key principles of the Framework. Reflective practice is a form of ongoing learning that involves engaging with questions of philosophy, ethics and practice.
MTOP ensures that school aged children have opportunities to engage in leisure-based experiences which will contribute to their ongoing development.

In broad terms, what do the frameworks say about the value of quality education and care for children?
I wrote: It indicates that early childhood education and care services with high-quality play and learning programs are more likely to help children learn and develop well, both in the short and long term. If children have high-quality experience at their education and care service, they are likely to do better at school. They have better chances of keeping up with their peers, staying in school and enjoying learning right through their teenage and adult years. As a parent and an educator, we also want to feel confident that our children’s education and care services are providing quality care and education. The value of high quality education and care is giving children lots of opportunities to have many activities and interactions, which will help them develop the skills they will need for learning at school and later in life, also building on strong, warm and respectful relationships and communication.

Are there any identified learning outcomes for children, if so what are they?
I wrote:
EYLF all about its outcomes but didn't know if there were any for My Time, Our Place

What is the role of the educator in implementing the frameworks?
I wrote:
Developing meaningful curriculum that involves interactive decision making by children, parents and families, educators and the broader community with the aim of fostering children’s learning. Curriculum decision making is guided by a combination of principles, practices and outcomes to promote children’s learning. Curriculum that is culturally appropriate and developed in consultation with families and community will ensure that children and families are actively participating and contributing their knowledge and ideas as learning evolves. The Framework outlines best practice and reflects contemporary early childhood research and theory. It provides guidance and parameters for quality practice and it is intended that educators’ practice is informed by it. How can the frameworks assist educators in designing a curriculum?
I wrote: The Framework provides an opportunity for educators across Australia to work towards:
• a clear focus on children’s learning and wellbeing
• a shared language for curriculum in the early
childhood field
• a base for planning, promoting and
assessing learning
• improved quality in early childhood settings
• cultural security for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander children and their families
• including families and communities in
children’s learning


Who are the key participants involved in implementing the framework?
I wrote:
the educators

How do you plan to work closely with others and under supervision to help implement an approved learning framework? Alternatively, if you are working in an early childhood setting, briefly explain how you already go about this??

Oh not sure if I am on the right track but I came up with 5 learning outcomes for the EYLF..

Got them out of page 32 ...

Yes, I'd say you're on the right track with your response so far.

In the Guide to the NQS it states:

Early Years Learning Framework
The Early Years Learning Framework guides educators in developing quality programs for children. It describes the early childhood principles, practice and outcomes required to support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years of age, including their transition to school.

Framework for School Age Care
The Framework for School Age Care builds on the Early Years Learning Framework and extends the principles, practices and outcomes to accommodate the contexts and age range of the children and young people who attend school age care settings. The Framework for School Age Care exists to ensure that children in school age care have opportunities to engage in leisure and play-based experiences that are responsive to the needs, interests and choices of the children attending the service and that contribute to their ongoing development. It provides guidance to educators working with school age children in outside school hours care, long day care and family day care settings.


Guide TO The NQS (Look from page 19 and also Quality Area 1 in regards to implement an approved framework)
