Hi everyone, I am trying to finish this Unit and I get stuck with the following questions. Please give me a help.
Scenario: Mike is 2,5 years. He has Spanish background but he can understand and can speak basic English. He bites his friends to get toys. I develop a behavior plan form him. Acceptable alternative behaviour is "For Mason to use his words and ask if he can play with a toy in a range of different play situations.
1. Outline (or role play) what you would say to Mason to help him understand the specific expectations for his behaviour.
I might say: ‘Mason, do you want to play with these toys? You should say to your friends “I want to play” or I might say: ‘Mason, if you want to play with the toys your friends are playing, you could say “My turn”.’
2. What factors in your service may have led to Mason’s biting behaviour? How would you minimise these factors?
Not enough toys => more toys
Not enough space => re organise the room to provide the children with more space
After a few days, he begins to respond to your strategies. Now he only bites occasionally. Despite this, his bites are still damaging and many parents and childen are concerned. You notice that Mason now only bites when you are out of the room.
3. Identify one modification you would like to introduce into Mason’s plan to minimise his in appropriate behaviour. Explain why you have chosen this modification.
Having all educators of the room to work with Mason to help him use his words to ask if he can have something or if he can play with a toy. This will help Mason to be familiar with all of his educators and it will also help to ensure that when I am not in the room, Mason will not bite his friends as he knows that the other educators are in the room. On the other hand, the other educators can guide him appropriate behaviors when I am not in the room.
4. Who would you need to consult with about the modification to Mason’s plan? Why would you need to consult with these people?
I will consult the modification with my colleagues to get their advice. As they are a part of the behaviour plan and they will work directly with Mason to help him with his behaviour, their opinion is important. Besides, I will consult Mason’s parents to gain their opinion about the modification. Mason’s parents can share information about their children’s behaviour at home and they may share strategies they are using at home. Should I consult other children and their parents?
3. What new objective would you set to reflect the modification you are going to make?
I do not know how to answer this question. The old long-term objective in the behaviour plan is "For Mason to move within a room independently, using his English words to ask if he can play". The old short-term objective is "For an educator to show and help Mason how to use his English words and ask for something politely". How should I answer this question?
4. What policies and procedures must you observe when modifying a behaviour plan?
Behavior guidance policy ?
Please help to correct me. Thanks so much ladies.

You're responses are good!
Just a couple...
No. This is a confidential situation and you should never name a child who had hurt another child to any parent. It's a breach of privacy. If a parent happens to ask you tell then that you are ware of the situation and you are working with all children to get this issue resolved.
For educators within the room to encourage Mason to use his words when wanting toys.
