Discarding A Syringe Off The Premises Safely

Post by seep » Tue Sep 08, 2015 4:59 pm

Q-what do you do if you find a discarded syringe?list the steps you would take to remove the syringe from the premises safely.
My Ans
1. Put on a pair of disposable gloves or gardening gloves, if available.
2. Get a container with a well secured lid, preferably screw top. Rigid plastic containers with lids are best (eg plastic milk, juice or soft drink bottles with a screw top lid). Avoid using glass, which may shatter, or aluminium cans, which may be squashed.
3. If picking up a needle with a syringe attached, pick it up by holding the stem of the syringe and pointing the needle away from your body. Use a pair of tongs if available.
4. Do not attempt to recap a needle or attach or detach a needle from a syringe.
5. Put the needle & syringe point first, into the container. More than one can be placed in the container, but do not overfill. Do not carry the needle & syringe unless in a suitable container.
6. Make sure that the container is tightly sealed.
7. Sharps containers are not to be disposed of with the normal household rubbish and should be delivered to Council’s Offices

please suggest am I on the right track?thanks
