Hi everyone,
For fathers' day, my team put up with purchasing some wooden photo frames for chn to paint/paste on. I found wooden frame are expensive, and limit the chance that children could contribute to their father's present, so I searched how to make frame with cardboard. I believe it a good chance to involve families-bring in some recycled waste, embed sustainability in program, save resources and money,..it is more about learning experiences than production. But other staff believe wooden ones are nicer looking than cardboard, and parents may dislike it and drop it to bin... I shared my opinion, they said 'up to you'. Therefore as a team leader, what decision would you make in this situation?
Thanks
Wenda

Hi Wenda,
Not only do the staff think purchased frames may be nicer looking but it's probably less work and hassle rather than spend time creating their own!
I completely agree with you! Not only is the process of creating a gift embeds great learning opportunities but I think it's much more meaningful to the parents as well! Children will be so eager to create their own frame from a cardboard cereal box then having a purchased one. Also when you create the frame it doesn't have to be "square" or "rectangle". A child can choose to have circle, star or a heart and having the children make it gives them much more choices and enables them to decide how they want to do it. I would rather a child work on a project, make their own decisions and at the end have a sense of achievement and say "daddy look what I made for you all by myself".
If I were you, I would say that you would prefer to create your own...

Hi Wenda,
If you as the team leader feels that with the age and amount of children you care for you are able to make your own good on you. Go for it.
