Hi. I need a bit of help with this assessment question.
Question:
Q. Use the Web to research the key Australian Standards applicable to early childhood education and care services shown in the table below. Identify the name of the Australian Standard, and then describe its connection and application in an early childhood education and care setting.
AS/NZS 2208: 1996
AS.NZS ISO 8124.1: 2010
AS/NZS ISO 8124.2: 2009
AS/NZS 1754: 2010
My attempted answers:
A. AS/NZS 2208: 1996 : This is the Safety glazing materials in buildings standard. This standard is in place in a childcare setting as it ensures that any glazed area of the service that is accessible to children complies with the act by ensuring that glazed areas must be glazed with safety glass if required, treated with a product that prevents glass from shattering when broken or having glass guarded by barriers to prevent children falling against or striking the glass.
It is in place to ensure that every precaution within reason has been taken to protect the children from any harm involving glass.
A. AS.NZS ISO 8124.1: 2010 : This is the Safety of toys - Safety aspects related to mechanical and physical properties Australian standard. This standard connects with a childcare setting as it directly relates to the safety of toys used within a childcare centre. This applies in childcare as it is in place to ensure that toys used in the service comply with the mandatory standard so that the risk of small parts coming off toys during play and from reasonable wear and tear is minimized thus helping to prevent suffocation, choking and death.
A. AS/NZS ISO 8124.2: 2009 : This is the Safety of toys – Flammability. This standard connects with a childcare setting as it directly relates to the flammability of toys used within a childcare center. This applies in childcare as it is in place to ensure that all toys in the centre comply with the standard and that toys that are considered to be potential high fire hazards such as; costumes, wigs, fabric masks, play tents and soft filled toys with a textile surface have been tested by their burn rate, tagged if necessary and that the materials they contain are not prohibited and comply with the law.
A. AS/NZS 1754: 2010 : This is the Child restraint systems for use in motor vehicles Standard. This standard is in place in a childcare setting as it is in place to set the standard for child restraints used in childcare services. This applies to a childcare setting as it outlines the requirements a child restraint must meet in order to provide maximum protection in the event of an accident. Childcare services must use only use approved child restraints that meet the mandatory standard, failure to comply can result in heavy penalties and consequences.
Are my answers on the right track? I'm not entirely sure what this question means when it states connection and application.
I'm also struggling to find information on the following standards;
AS 4685 (Set): 2004 :The Playground equipment and surfacing set Australian standard
AS/NZS 4468.1: 1997 :The Playgrounds and Playground equipment standard
AS 2555: 1982 :The Supervised Adventure Playgrounds standard
Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Re: Key Australian Standards In Early Childhood
Yes I think you're on the right track with your responses! The connection is how it is connected to an early childhood setting and the how it is applied, which you have added into your responses.
As far as the Playground standards go, from what I can search you need to purchase these standards however I did happen to find the following:
New Playground Standards
Designing EC Playgrounds
Hope these help,
