Hi everyone,
Struggling with this question and not sure if I've answered correctly:
"What do you use language for when working with children? Describe how language is incorporated into; routines, experiences and providing directions to children."
Here's what I've answered but not sure if I'm on the right track:
How language is used during:
Routines
• Conversations with children can always be a learning experience. With pre schoolers they are ready to accept instruction that contains two or three pieces of information. For example: “go into the kitchen and bring me the yellow cloth to wipe this table”.
• Intentional teaching can be incorporated. For example: “there are seven crackers left on the plate and Oscar is having one. How many are left?”
• Clear language and instruction help children to grasp concepts and respond with language and actions.
Experiences
• To gain knowledge of children's learning from the experience, their likes and dislikes, how to communicate ideas, how to extend on their learning,
Providing direction.
• When providing direction and using clear language, we can gain insight into children's developmental progress and their grasp of language.
