Health and Safety Procedures

Post by balanceandcomposure » Fri Jul 10, 2015 1:23 pm

Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone could guide me to answering this question?

"In a small paragraph of three (3) to four (4) sentences list the procedure and steps that need to be followed when issues are identified in relation to health and safety."

My original answer was "Assess the risk to determine if it needs to be addressed right away. If safe, clean/clear up the issue while keeping children clear of it. If a child is infectious or ill, call that child’s parent while keeping the child separated from others in an area where they can relax and rest. Fill out an incident report as incidents occur and inform other staff of any incidents. If a child has an allergic reaction, remain calm and follow the child’s action plan as listed in the centre."

but the submission was returned as it didn't match up with the question

Any help would be much appreciated

Thank you!

Managing health and safety risks
A safe and healthy workplace does not happen by chance or guesswork. You have to think about what could go wrong at your workplace and what the consequences could be. Then you must do whatever you can—whatever is reasonably practicable—to eliminate or minimise the health and safety risks arising from the work your organisation undertakes.

The process of eliminating or minimising health and safety risks is called risk management and involves four steps:

identifying hazards – find out what could cause harm
assess the risks if necessary – understand the nature of the harm that could be caused by the hazard, how serious the harm could be and the likelihood of it happening
control risks – implement the most effective control measure that is reasonably practicable in the circumstances, and
review control measures – to ensure they are working as planned.

Safe Work Australia

Hope this helps,
