CHCECE016 Grouping of Children

Post by kathy33 » Mon Jun 29, 2015 6:44 pm

Hi everyone,

Is any one have an idea how to answer this question?
Thanks Kathy

Your question:

Explain how you would ensure that groupings of children are configured to provide for each child’s comfort and to minimise the risk of overcrowding.

Hi Kathy

Have a read through the National Quality Standard, in particular Quality Area 2, Elements 2.1.2 and 2.1.4; 2.2.2; 2.3.1 and Quality Area 3, Standard 3.1, Element 3.1.1; 3.1.3 and Standard 3.2.
Quality area 5 also gives you a good picture as to why group size is so important. Even though the national legislation does not prescribe a maximum group size because the focus is on outcomes for children, an example of an effective group size would be one that is no more than three times the single ratio for a specific age group, for example 0-2 years is a 1:4 ratio of educator to child. Any more than 12 0-2 year old children in a group would not be considered effective or to be meeting NQS.
Hope this helps you!
Chrissy :)
