CHCRF511A - Scenario: Emma & Maria - Separation

Post by Nic1983 » Wed May 13, 2015 12:57 pm

2 year old Emma’s mum, Maria has asked to make an appointment to speak to you. During your conversation Maria explains to you that Juan (Emma’s dad) and herself have made the decision to separate. Maria is concerned about the emotional impact that this may have on Emma, and even though the separation has been quite amicable, Emma is aware that her father is not at home with them any more. Maria also expresses to you concern about her financial position. Up until now she has been completing the administrative tasks for Juan’s automotive business, one that she will not be continuing.

1. What attitude and dispositions would you need to demonstrate to respond to this family’s circumstances?

2. Prepare a relevant professional one page resource list using this format:
o Agencies/support services.
o Contact Details
o Brief overview of the service/support provided

3. What NQS areas does this scenario relate to?

4. What Practice Principles from the EYLF/VEYLDF does this scenario relate to

Thanks Lorina. I am adding my answer as a reply,

1. I have to talk in positive attitude with Maria and help her to make her mind and let her know that she is not the only one and Emma is not the only child facing this type of scenario. And also there are many services and help available to the families like Maria.
I will be directing Maria to the local family counselling services like Relationships Victoria, Centrelink/ Human Recourses.
Speaking to the director regarding childhood fees, Department of Human Services website Information would be helpful for Maria with her financial concerns.

2. I did listed it

3. What NQS areas does this scenario relate to?
Quality Area 6 - Collaborative partnerships with families and communities

4. What Practice Principles from the EYLF/VEYLDF does this scenario relate to?
EYLF / VEYLDF – Partnership with Professionals

Please give me feed back on my answers.

That's a good response!

For Q4. I would also add the following Principle - Secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships.
