Post by Jag » Wed Mar 12, 2014 12:22 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHC30712 Cert III Learning through play
Your Assignment Type: Other
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
In assessment 3 Q9 the question is Provide an example of ow you apply each of the listed skills within your capacity as an early childhood professional.
A Support infants and toddler to master key development tasks:

B Manage children's health needs, eating behaviours and physical activity

C Provide environments and relationships that are safe for young people

D Engage and work with parents/carers and families

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
A

B I ensure that the learning environment is set up in a manner which facilitates children’s health needs, eating behaviours and physical activity health needs, eating behaviours and physical activity by having the knowledge of individual children, including knowledge of each child’s strengths and capabilities, this helps guide and safe guard that each child is provided with the opportunity to engage in a variety of experiences that improve their learning.
Safe choices can be:-
- the choice between yoghurt and fruit for morning tea
- the choice between the green or yellow jumper to wear while playing outdoors
- the choice between play dough, drawing or blocks
- the choice to move the books from the veranda to underneath the tree

I am sure to provide enough materials, space, time and resources for children to initiate and develop their play to its fullest potential. If children require additional resources, I offer it to them; it is often the resources they ask for and not the ones you set out for them, which are most needed in their play.

C I provide a safe environment and relationship by teaching children conflict resolution skills that they can use with each other, I ask genuine questions that enable the children to use their words in order to solve their conflict. I do not offer solutions or solve the problem, but facilitate and guide a calm discussion in order for the children to discover solutions. I encourage the children to solve their social issues themselves but with support. I ask children open-ended questions about how they feel and what they would like to see happen. This is giving the children the power and the tools to solve their own problems, not only within the early childhood environment but in their future lives.

Description and Message:
I'm not sure if I am answering these questions correctly can someone please advise and also with A and D
Thanks

I think the responses to your questions so far are well thought out and detailed. You're on the right track with what you have answered!

For A - developmental tasks refers to developmental milestones appropriate for the child's specific age. In order to help babies and toddlers master these skills they need encouragement, a positive environments, lots of support and praise. You can find Children's Development Milestones in our Wiki here: Child Development

For D - Building Relationships With Families and Co-Workers (also available in our Wiki)

Hope these give you a few ideas,

:geek:,
