Child Wears Shoes That Don't Match, Safety Issue?
Child Wears Shoes That Don't Match, Safety Issue?
Hi everyone, I would like to know do you allow you kids at childcare wear a pair of shoes that don't match on each sides? I had experience at my workplace recently when a child wore one side flat shoe and one side boot, sometimes, one foot flat shoe, and one foot runner. And I spoke to the parents, I told them that it will be dangerous for their child especially when their child plays outside. (Isn't it a health and safety issue?) But indeed they said that it is the imagination of their child and there is nothing wrong to wear like that. So I would like to have some suggestions from all of you, how can I convince the parents? Thanks.

I have never come across this before! On a more serious note, yes I do believe it is a safety issue. Children should wear enclosed shoes that are the same such as runners, especially when they are outside running all over the place. You could probably come up with a compromise... When the child is outside they need to wear the same shoes on both feet and when they are inside they can wear whatever they want as long as they are enclosed... Hopefully it's just a phase, like the child's parents assume it is and once another interest pops up the child will wear the same shoes on both feet...
