Access to water at all times, how for toddlers?

Post by rachelroo » Tue Jun 19, 2012 11:27 pm

Hi,
In the new regs no. 78 says that the children have "access to safe drinking water at all times"
In the older rooms we have self serve water and cups set up in the room at all times.
Most of the children in the toddler room are just over 1yr old.
Any ideas on how to make water available to them at all times, without water being splashed around the room?
Any strategies that work for you would be great.
Thanks

Their own bottles that don't spill on a table. Some vigilance by staff when they approach. Encourage the habit that they are to sit there with their cup/bottle whilst they drink.

Thanks, your right, its just hard at first when you put something new out it gets an extra amount of interest!
I was even thinking of putting out like only 2 spare sipper cups at a time ,that can be washed after each use until they get familiar with the concept , as 12 sipper cups would be hard to manage at first! Thanks for your reply..I ve worked with 2-5's for like 20 years and babies for only 3 weeks so got a bit to learn!!
