QIP question

Post by LauraEL » Mon Jun 01, 2026 2:57 pm

How far back does your QIP go? We have elements of our QIP that relate back to improvements that began in 2021. Is there a limit to how far back you can show evidence of improvement and the reason behind the improvements?

Usually there’s no strict cutoff as long as you can clearly show the improvement journey, supporting evidence, and how it connects to your current QIP goals. Older evidence from 2021 can still be valuable if it demonstrates sustained improvement rather than isolated actions.

Hi!

There is no strict limit on how far back your QIP can reference improvements — you can include initiatives from 2021 or earlier. What matters is that your QIP is updated annually and clearly demonstrates ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, with evidence showing why changes were made and how they continue to impact practice.

Focus on improvements that are still relevant or have shaped current practice. For example, a staffing change in 2021 that permanently improved ratios is worth documenting.

Connect older improvements to current priorities—e.g., “In 2021 we introduced outdoor play rotations, which we have since expanded into a full outdoor classroom program.”

Hope this helps!
