Water play supervision question

Post by Endersbee.K » Fri Feb 10, 2017 4:50 pm

I've just come across a question in my assignment

" During the morning you decide to include water play as an experience. What will you need to consider with regards to supervision?"

I've been working in childcare for a few years and I always thought there was a Reg that said water play must be supervised by an employed staff member over the age of 18. but I can't find anything in the (WA) Reg book that confirms that.

is there a specific Regulation about water play? (I'd like to reference my question properly)

Within the National Regulation it doesn't state the ratio requirements/exact requirements for water play however it does say:
Regulation 168(2)(a) Policies and procedures are required in relation to health and safety, including matters relating to: water safety

So, centres need to come up with their own policy in regards to water safety.

Hope this helps!
