Teaching Children To Solve Cultural DIfferences

Hello Everyone!

I'm brand new here! This is my very first post so please excuse any wrongs I may do!

I'm currently studying my diploma and I'm working on my Cultural Competence unit... I'm a bit stuck... I completed a group activity at Kinder reading an Aboriginal story, playing with Aboriginal puzzles and then we did some dot paintings together. I have to explain how the activities teach the children to solve cultural differences... Ummm... help! It just confuses me as I can't see how cultural differences are something that needs to be 'solved'...

Any ideas? I'd be super grateful for any help!

During the experiences you had provided did the children make comments about what they were doing? During the story, did a child make any comments of the symbols used or the way the drawings arr drawn? When engaging in puzzles and painting did a child comment on the colours used etc. Anything specific on the experiences you had provided to do with Aboriginal people? Did a child mention any differences?

The question is not so much as to "solve" cultural differences but to encourage a child to recognise and respect it...
