Sustainability Management Plan

Post by sweet_pretty01 » Sat Apr 23, 2016 10:50 am

➢ To introduce your Sustainability Management Plan you are to write a 200 word introduction which provides the reader with an overview of the impact of key global issues such as climate change, ozone layer effects, greenhouse effect, earth resources and biodiversity

and this question

➢ Discuss potential barriers and drivers for behavioural change that may impact on the sustainability management plan

not sure what I'm supposed to do

For the introduction you need to research each environmental issue mentioned and it's impact of them. You can find this in Goggle itself. Just search one at a time "climate change impact" and see what information you get. Since it's only 200 words you probably just need a few sentences about each issues.

Once you develop your Sustainability Management Plan you need to write about potential barriers that you may face while implementing it.

Hope this helps,

thank you does this sound like a good answer

My sustainability management plans is based on Recycling, Sustainability is important and because if not done in the right manner it shows a problem to our planet and is making global issues such as Global Warming, global warming is the result of human practices like emission of Greenhouse gases. Global warming leads to rising temperatures of the oceans and the earth’ surface causing melting of polar ice caps, rise in sea levels and also unnatural patterns of precipitation such as flash floods, excessive snow or desertification. Climate Change, Climate change is yet another environmental problem that has surfaced because of rise in global warming which occurs due to increase in temperature of atmosphere by burning of fossil fuels and release of harmful gases by industries.

Loss of Biodiversity is Human activity, which is leading to the extinction of species and habitats and loss of bio-diversity. Eco systems, which took millions of years to perfect, are in danger when any species population is decimating. Balance of natural processes like pollination is crucial to the survival of the eco-system and human activity threatens the same. Another example is the destruction of coral reefs in the various oceans, which support the rich marine life. One of the last environmental problems is ozone layer is an invisible layer of protection around the planet that protects us from the sun’s harmful rays. Depletion of the crucial Ozone layer of the atmosphere is attributed to pollution caused by Chlorine and Bromide found in Chloro-floro carbons (CFC’s). Once these toxic gases reach the upper atmosphere, they cause a hole in the ozone layer, the biggest of which is above the Antarctic.

There are countless examples throughout human history where a civilisation has damaged its own environment and seriously affected its own survival chances. Sustainability takes into account how we might live in harmony with the natural world around us, protecting it from damage and destruction.

We now live in a modern, consumerist and largely urban existence throughout the developed world and we consume a lot of natural resources every day. In our urban centres, we consume more power than those who live in rural settings and urban centres use a lot more power than average, keeping our streets and civic buildings lit, to power our appliances, our heating and other public and household power requirements. That's not to say that sustainable living should only focus on people who live in urban centres though, there are improvements to be made everywhere - it is estimated that we use about 40% more resources every year than we can put back and that needs to change. Sustainability and sustainable development focuses on balancing that fine line between competing needs - our need to move forward technologically and economically, and the needs to protect the environments in which we and others live. Sustainability is not just about the environment, it's also about our health as a society in ensuring that no people or areas of life suffer as a result of environmental legislation, and it's also about examining the longer term effects of the actions humanity takes and asking questions about how it may be improved.
