Sleep and Rest Time Checklist

Post by xoxo » Sat Feb 18, 2017 9:25 pm

I'm doing the checklist for Kevin and Tim for Case Study 1 Sleep and rest and having a bit of trouble.

Are you needing to complete the whole 10?
So far i have

Provide a bottle for Kevin (if he has one) prior to rest time
Ensure that the baby monitors are switched on, and play the recording of Kevin's mum's story reading to help Kevin feel safe and secure
Go in and physically check that Kevin is still breathing every 10-15 minutes

Tim:
Tim is 3 years old. He likes to sleep with his favourite blanket that his mum packs for him when he goes to the centre. His mum has informed you that Tim gets very agitated throughout the day when he does not get his afternoon nap, and prefers that the centre ensures he gets his nap before she picks him up in the afternoon.
Kevin:
Kevin is 2 years old and is still used to sleeping in a cot. He just started going to the centre and is still afraid to be left in the centre without his mum. Hearing his mum’s voice calms him down and helps him go to sleep. So his mum provided the centre with a recording of herself reading bedtime stories to play for Kevin when he is having difficulty sleeping.

Ensure sleep and rest practices are consistent with approved standards and meet the children's individual needs by creating a checklist that you can use for the children described above. Use the safe sleep and rest guidelines provided in the link before as your reference.

There is a checklist provided numbered 1-10 and boxes beside to tick yes or no.

Ok, so you can use the policy to create a checklist...

For example:

Is the area well ventilated and provide natural lightening?
Is bed linen firmly tucked in? etc.
