Scenario: Pam Picking Up Katherine and Joel

Post by jhmj1594 » Wed Jan 06, 2016 7:19 pm

hey i have just started doing my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, and im stuck with these questions

Today, a lady arrives to pick up Katherine and Joel. You have never seen her before. She says her name is Pam, Joel and Katherine's grandmother, who has just arrived from Adelaide for a long weekend.

Q. 1) Outline your response to Pam's request and the steps you will take to ensure the children get home safely.
Q. 2) How does your response reflect the Education and Care National Regulation's requirement for the collection of children.

A. 1) I would ask Pam for her ID and check Katherine and Joel's enrollment forms and make sure that all her details on the form match.

would really appreciate any help i can get
thank you :)

Yes, you would, however if Pam is not on the enrolment form what would you do? You would need to ring Amanda and confirm from Amanda about Pam collecting the children by 2 educators. She needs to verbalise it with another educator as well.

Within the regulations it states:

Division 6 Collection of children from premises and excursions - 99 Children leaving the education and care service premises

(4) The child may only leave the relevant premises if the child—
(a) is given into the care of—
(i) a parent of the child; or
(ii) an authorised nominee named in the child’s enrolment record; or
(iii) a person authorised by a parent or authorised nominee named in the child’s enrolment record to collect the child from the premises; or
(b) leaves the premises in accordance with the written authorisation of the child’s parent or authorised nominee named in the child’s enrolment record

Hope this helps,
