Scenario: Educator Jumping Over Fence For Ball
Hi my name is rohini and doing diploma in early childhood and education. I am stuck with this scenario.
Not able to answer it at all. Can you please help me.
One of the case studies i have to answer is
You are in charge of a group of three (3) to four (4) year old children in the outdoor play area when one of the children kicks his ball over the fence. He starts crying and tells you his mum is going to be angry because this is a new ball and he wasn’t allowed to bring it to kindy. You only have a small group of children so you decide to quickly jump over the fence to retrieve the ball. You were not gone for more than a minute and you could see the group through the fence the whole time.
A short time later another Educator comes out to the yard to relieve you and says that the Nominated Supervisor has asked to see you in her office. She has found out that you jumped the fence to retrieve the ball and asks you to explain your actions.
Clearly explain the breaches involved in this scenario in relation to:
1. Education and Care Services National Regulations – which Regulation are they in breach of?
2. Duty of care
3. Service policies and procedures.
4. You reflect on your legal and ethical responsibilities and realise that you should have had better work practices. What should you have done?
5. You are upset with yourself because you like to follow the services policies but when you look at the Supervision policy you realise it’s not very clear for situations like this. You are worried that other educators might do the same as you and might get into trouble. What could you do?

You need to look at a services policies and procedures such as Supervision Policy, Safety Policy etc.

Theorist 1 Social, Emotional and Cognitive by Jean Piaget
What does the theory “look like” in the workplace?
As Educator I could apply this theory in my work place by giving the children a great deal of hands-on practice with the skills that serve as building block for a complex skill and I could provide a wide rage of experiences for the children to build foundation for concept learning and language.
What would educators be doing?
Learning outcome 1 Children feel safe, secure, and supported
What sort of experiences would they be providing?
Any suggestion for this question

What does the theory “look like” in the workplace?
What would educators be doing?
What sort of experiences would they be providing?
