Use the Following scenario to answer the next two questions. Scenario: Scenario 1 During rest time you overhear two of your colleagues gossiping about an alleged affair that one of them is having with a parent of a child that is currently resting. They have talked about details of the ‘relationship’ and commenting their thoughts and opinions on whether the parent involved will leave their partner for them.
Why is this situation a potential ethical issue or dilemma?
An ethical dilemma is a situation that will often involve an apparent conflict between moral imperatives, in which to obey one would result in transgressing another. This is also called an ethical paradox since in moral philosophy, paradox plays a central role in ethics debates. For instance, an ethical admonition to "love thy neighbour as thy self" is not always just in contrast with, but sometimes in contradiction to an armed neighbour actively trying to kill you: if he or she succeeds, you will not be able to love him or her. But to preemptively attack them or restrain them is not usually understood as loving. This is one of the classic examples of an ethical decision clashing or conflicting with an organismic decision, one that would be made only from the perspective of animal survival: an animal is thought to act only in its immediate perceived bodily self-interests when faced with bodily harm, and to have limited ability to perceive alternatives.
This is an ethical dilemma because in this situation there is a conflict with moral responsibilities.
Principles of ethical behavior that must be upheld:
Integrity, Objectivity, Professional competence and due care, Confidentiality and Professional behaviour
Q2:What would you do next?
I will share the dilemma with my supervisor. I will encourage my colleagues to adopt and act in accordance with Code of ethics.
To resolve this situation, I will: Review all the facts, consider the consequences, consider the actions and Make decision
I can't answer this question.
I'm looking in this website(Ethics: A Part of Everyday Practice) but I'm not find the answer..

Re: Scenario: Educator Having Affair With Parent
Very interesting scenario! I can only imagine the gossip and tremendous hurt this will cause the family if this actually happened in a centre!
I think for this scenario you need to look into "ethical boundaries" or "client relationships" which may help give you an idea on what type of response to use. In regards to reporting, you would have to document what you have heard and go and talk to the Director about it.
I have some information that may help:
Client Relationships
Hope this gets you started,
