Which observation techniques are best used to observe the following Domains of Development?

Domain of Development:1)Physical
Observation Technique :
To observe physical development, we can set up an obstacle course outside and use a developmental checklist to record the skills of all the children as they play on the balance beam, climb stairs, or bend and crawl under a board.

2) Language:
Model appropriate language using simple sentences. Use visual clues such as pictures or real materials to accompany language.
Repeat information and directions, and have the child repeat new information. Make sure that the listener/teacher is accepting and nonjudgmental.

3)Emotional:
• Observe children’s verbal and non-verbal signals and get to know them as individuals.
• Respond in a caring and consistent way to children’s physical and emotional needs.
• Keep expectations appropriate to the child’s abilities and stage of development.
• Provide opportunities for one to one time with each child giving them individual attention and focus.

4)Social;
• helping children to learn about sharing
• helping children to develop empathy
• talking about how the other child may feel and perhaps role playing this with older children
• helping children to discover that being kind to others feels good
• encouraging children to realise the joys of friendship
