LA017544 - Scenario: Nominated Supervise at WinterGrove Education and Care Service

Post by kristen1987 » Wed Feb 03, 2016 10:17 am

hi i am really confused on what a profile is supposed to look like. i just need a quick hint as to what it looks like maybe a sample. here is my questionCreating a community sector education and care service

The following information has been provided to use for this task.
This information will form the foundation of your community sector education and care service
Wintergrove Education and Care Service
A community sector, not for profit, education and care service is opening in Wintergrove, NSW.

Wintergrove is a coastal town in NSW with a permanent population of approximately 4,706 people (according to the last census). The area has a high population of new families with young children. Children are seen as unique contributors to this young and emerging community. There is a shopping centre; library; club, hotel and sporting facilities; several doctors (GP’s) and a range of allied health services; a police station and fire station; a state primary school and a state high school.

The management committee responsible for establishing this service are keen on providing a service that is particularly focused on the appreciation of the natural environment, ‘green living’, sustainability and recycling. This service will be the first in the town.

Wintergrove is primarily a service town, providing for industry in the local area. This includes timber, recycling and some light farming of crops. The management committee believe the philosophy should reflect renewal and care of the environment, as well as fostering within children a respect and appreciation of our natural world.

Wintergrove has strong community focus and is passionate about the role of the community in extending and enriching children’s lives and learning.

The management committee are equally interested in the philosophy aligning to: Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Learning Years Framework for Australia.

The population of Wintergrove is growing steadily as more families move into the area. It is anticipated the service would need to run for fairly long hours and for most weeks of the year to suit the needs of families who are often committed to shift work.

There are many babies being born and families requiring care and support who have moved to Wintergrove from elsewhere in the country, or from outside Australia. The management committee are concerned that some families may be quite isolated in terms of community support and family networks, and believe that Wintergrove Education and Care Service (WECS) can help fill a gap here and facilitate a sense of community. The community management model is important to Wintergrove Education and Care Service (WECS) and acts as the impetus of their philosophy and future direction.

The management committee is representative of a diverse community, which includes Anglo-Australians, Croatian, Italian, Chinese and a number of other cultural groups. The Australian Aboriginal population is also a strong part of the local community.

Wintergrove Education and Care Services (WECS) Management Committee have employed you as the Nominated Supervisor (NS) of the service and your initial role is to be involved in establishing the service.

Wintergrove’s Service
Philosophy

Wintergrove is a community sector, not for profit education and care service. Children are our passion and we strive to give every child a happy, healthy, friendly, and educational environment. We aim to implement an educational program and environment that reflects both individual and group needs. And one that promotes all children’s interests, culture, learning and development through play. We are equally interested in the Early Learning Years Framework (EYLF) Belonging, Being, and becoming.
While working with families, we at Wintergove want families to know that they are the most important part of their children’s lives and education. We ask all families to be involved in any way. We understand that time is a big factor among families and some have more than other. To help families feel that they are not missing out we have a few different communication styles to suit every need. Communication books, daily reflection books that families can view when picking up their children to see what they have been doing for the day, emails, meetings, and one on one phone calls.
Another interest of ours is sustainability and natural environment. (Green Living). Children will learn to be connected with and contribute to their world. Using recycled materials for our craft activities, planting trees and plants in our playground, looking after and watering them, using herbs from our garden to cook and create with, teaching children to turn off lights when not needed, making sure taps are not dripping, recycling our scrap paper.
In our role at Wintergroves, we aim to be happy, motivated, inspirational, motivated and welcoming of every child that attends our service and give them 100% of our support in everything that they want to achieve. Our door is always open to any family and we will try our best to ensure that everyone has a happy and positive experience at this service

Could this be something like an "About Us" that you may find on a webpage about a centre or you could just use a table format in MS Word add the points mentioned above in one column and your responses in the second column...

Regarding your philosophy I think it's great! You've taken the information from the description given in the scenario and added into the philosophy! It's very well written and thought out! Awesome job!
