Hi everyone,
Just trying to answer some questions about ethical issues that may arise in child abuse cases and different scenarios.
Some ideas that i have include
it being hard to remain neutral and not let your personal opinions on the matter interfere or effect your judgement when it comes to following the correct Policies and Procedures
That it may be hard to maintain confidentiality on the subject as you may want to vent your anger, or not be sure who you should disclose the information to in regards to just the director or if other staff need to know etc etc
That it could be hard to let a child leave care at the end of the day, particularly if you have completed the MRG tool, and had to report to Child Protection due to risk of significant harm, you have a duty of care to protect the child, but you also can not deny a parent grounds to collect their child (unless restricted by a court order)
In some circumstances you may be close to the family, or have formed a relationship with the family ( for eg, my sisters child is in daycare and one of our best friends is a worker there), but you still must report risks of harm. (not sure if this fits more into a moral or ethical category?)
That it may be hard to continue to preform duties without favoritism or bias towards a child or family based on Child neglect/ domestic violence/ abuse etc etc..
Any others that i could cover??
thanks for your help
