CHCECE025 Embed sustainable practices in service operations
Clustered with BSBSUS501 Develop workplace policy and procedures for sustainability

Hello everyone! I'm just wondering if there's anyone (or a few) in here who is really good with Education for Sustainability? I have this question in my assessment book that I just have no idea how to answer... If anyone could help please, I would really appreciate it very much! Thank you in advance! smile emoticon
“What part can you play, as an educator, to attain the vision expressed in the Australian Government National Action Plan for Education for Sustainability that ‘All Australians have the awareness, knowledge, skills, values and motivation to live sustainably’”?

Thank you!
Donna

Wouldn't you need to just suggest some strategies that you could do as an Educator as part of policy for Education for Sustainability?

Maybe just have a read through the policy and see if you can come up with some strategies...

Thank you Lorina!

This is what I came up with, and I checked with my teacher if I'm on the right track..she said yes.

As an educator, I would teach sustainability not just to the children but their families, the community and my co-educators as well. I would instil to them the importance of ensuring quality of life for this and future generations. I would lead by example. Turn lights off when leaving a room, Place a jumper or coat on instead of turning on the heater. Encourage a rubbish free lunchbox (Nude Food). Drink water from a re-usable bottle instead of disposable, and at the end of the day use the left over water to water some of the pot plants. Plant things in veggie patch that fruit well like capsicum and beans and give to children to take home. Not only get the children to place fruit skins and apple cores into a compost bucket but after lunch or morning tea ask a child to take to the worm farm/ or compost heap so the children would also have the feeling of being responsible.
