Difference Between Long Term and Short Term Goals

Explain the difference between Short Term Objectives and Long Term goals. Give one example of each.

My answer so far:
Long Term Goals are the behaviour that we would hope the child can achieve over time.
Short Term Objectives are more specific and are designed to help the child achieve the long term goal
Young children particularly toddlers might mistakenly learn to seek interaction by pushing, pulling hair or biting because they have not yet learned the social skills or gained the language skills to interact in a different way. This is developmentally appropriate (for toddlers) and is considered mistaken behaviour at this age. The educators role here would be to support the child to learn how to interact with others by: working alongside, role modelling and assisting. It would be an unrealistic goal to expect this behaviour to stop immediately. The short term goal is designed to help the child achieve the long term goal, in this case changing a behaviour.

But I haven't addressed the second part, give one example of each?

So, now you have to come up with a long term goal and a short term goal.

For example: short-term goal - teach child that biting hurts

long term goal - child will stop biting and learn simple words to use instead
