Case study one - family daycare

Sin - lin provides a high quality family day care service to the people of the country town which she lives.
she provides an interesting and varied program based on the strengths, interests and needs of the children.
and her home and backyard are organised with the health, safety and enjoyment of the children in mind

At present she is caring for four children under school age every weekday and two children come to her after school each day. her group consists of the following children:
- james, aged 2 years, whose parents are both teachers at the local high school
- Phillip, aged 3 years, who lives with his mother in a housing commission flat
- Alicia, aged 4 years, who walks with a limp as a result of a car accident when she was an infant .
drago, aged 4 and a half who lives with his parents and four older siblings. they came to australia as refugees from kosovo a year ago

and the after school children are:
- Debbie, aged 6 years, who is extremely shy
- Ryan, aged 8 years, who lived with his mum and two older brothers in the family home since his dad left the family suddenly two months ago

the questions im stuck on and needing answers are:
1. what factors will Su - Lu need to consider in order to ensure that she communicates positively with all of the children on an ongoing basis?
2. what forms of non-verbal communication could su - lin use help her to communicate effectively with drago. and also with james, who is only 2 years old and still how to use words. in your answer include how su - lin can use keywords, which have meaning for the child, to encourage their language development.
