Using the centre's service philosophy and goals, make observations in relation to the whole service i.e the setting, environments and resources. Using these observations and information collected from those in the service document:

a. The criteria you identified in the philosophy, goals and principles of practice to assess the environment.
b. How effective is the setting, environment and resources at the service and do they meet they children's cultures, family background and interest.
c. Are there any modifications that you would recommend to the setting, environments and resources?
d. What constraints (resources, location, organisation and aesthetics) would prohibit the implementation of these modifications?
e. Are there any other improvements you would recommend for the further design of the overall program?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Nothing, maybe its too much homework for the day but I really need this done and I just don't know where/how to start it/if I have the right idea about it.

You will need to get a copy of your childcare centre's philosophy, practice and goals. This can be found in your centre's policy and procedure's manual. Once you have a copy read through each of the points and compare it your centre. For example:

The early childhood setting values children’s capacity to socialise, to exchange information, ideas and feelings. Children are encouraged to develop strategies for negotiation and actively participate in planning and decision making.

Through your observation how does the centre enable children to do this? Are they asked what activities they want? Through brain storming, mind mapping, group discussion etc.

Once you go through each of the points you should be able to answer the rest of the questions. Try and think of ways the centre can improve...
