CHCPR510A - Six Steps That Should Be Included In Evaluations

Post by sherry.mcc » Wed May 18, 2011 1:52 pm

Could someone help me with these questions. I have looked high & low on the internet.
Question:
Explain what is meant by the following statement:
'Projects are an example of socio-cultural theory in practice.'

Question:
SS061-Arthur, Beecher, Death, Dockett & Farmer (2008:124) suggest that there are six valid steps that should be included in the evaluation process. For each steps suggest a general question that could be posed.
Steps Reason

Purpose
Focus
Method
Implementation
Analysis
Action
Action

Hi Sherry,

Ok so I did some of my own research to help you out with your questions. I completely understand why it's important to learn about theory and all but geez, some tough questions here.

For the first question I just broke it down into finding out what socio-cultural theory is then just worked it out from there.

"Projects are an example of socio-cultural theory in practice".

Socio-cultural theory describes learning as being embedded within social events and occurring as a child interacts with people, objects and events in the environment. Therefore, if a child is working on a project they are able to collaborate and work together as a member of learners. Projects enable children to have conversations about common experiences and collaborate with each other. This enables children to foster ongoing relationships and shared growth.

In regards to your second question I will get back to you over the next couple days. I will need to clarify a few things and I would like to find out some further information for you.

Cheers :geek:,

Hello L. A.,

Thank you so very much for that answer. I could not get my head around it.
The second question I have put for Purpose-What is the purpose or programming?
Focus-What is it we need to focus on?
Does that sound okay.
Looking forward to hearing from you again.
Cheers Sherry

Hi Sherry,

No problems… I'm glad I could help you…In regards to your second question I think that they are referring to the evaluation of the program… So some of your questions can include:

Purpose - Is the current setup of the environment working? Are there any changes required?

Focus - Does the program assist in the development of the children's needs and interests?

Method - What teaching strategies worked well? Is there a need to implement any new strategies? What are these?

Implementation - Did you supply sufficient resources for the experiences planned? What Resourced did you use for any spontaneous experiences

Analysis - Is there anything I need to follow up with regards to children, parents and staff.

Action - How was the overall atmosphere in my room? What changes do I need to make?

Action - Does the routine run smoothly? In not, what changes t the routine are required?

I really hope these are the type of questions that you are looking for! I am not too sure whether or not that they are considered as part of what "SS061-Arthur, Beecher, Death, Dockett & Farmer (2008:124) " actually suggest. However in my program evaluation the questions listed above is what I normally would use so I assume they should be included in the six valid steps.

Hopefully I'm steering you on the right track,

Cheers :geek:,

Dear Lorina

Thank you very much for your reply.

I went through the post but isn't it examples of questions for each step in evaluation?
Do you have meaning of the steps in evaluation like definition by Arthur, Beecher, Death and Farmer?

Thank you once again.
