CHCPOL403C – UNDERTAKE RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

You will need to conduct the research with a minimum of 10 families in your service. The representative group must include first time parents, parents with 2 or more children and single parents. Inclusion of families who are recent arrivals from overseas or Aboriginal families is highly recommended as part of the research.

Consider the Elements of this unit when making your responses to the following parts.

Part 1 Research Plan

➢ Current location of the service – Wentworthville close to Westmead Hospital, not far from the CBD and close to the train station.
➢ Local government – Parramatta City
➢ Cultural mix of the service – India, Lebanese/Italian, Samoa/New Zealand, Malaysia, Chinese, Nepal and Australia
➢ Type of service you work in – Long Day Centre

2) Outline who the stakeholders are in the project and their relevance in your research. Consider management, regulatory authority, committee, staff and parents.
• The stakeholders are in the project are:
➢ Management
➢ Parents
➢ Staff
3) Identify from this group who will assist you determine the validity of your conclusion or outcome and why you have chosen them.
>
4) Determine which research methodology will best suit your project and outline in half a page the reasons for choosing it. Ensure that you have included how will validate the results of the research when you have reached your conclusion.
5) Identify at least 5 childrearing practices that you will include as a tester for all families.
6) Determine and outline what resources will be needed to conduct the research – both human resource (time, number etc.) and physical resources (computes, paper etc)
7) In the Research Schedule Template provided (or you can design your own) fill in the research schedule for your project. You will need to expand the template to fit all of your research.

Ok, so have you started the research yet? Maybe you can put together a questionnaire to give to parents? Or send an email? I'm just not sure exactly what you're stuck on...You need to gather the information first about child rearing practices...

This may help you understand child rearing practices:

It sounds like you need to write down all the steps you did to complete this project and how long it took you..

For example
- Prepare a questionnaire for parents: 2 days
- Submit questionnaire to families: 1 day
- Wait to receive feedback: 3 days

Here is another example:

Hope this helps,
