Hi everyone,
I have a question that i am stuck on and any help would be appreciated.
My Question: What factors come into play when you develop limits and guidelines for children within your centre? How do you ensure that they are
relevant to the culture/background and abilities of all children in your room and meet the centres policies & procedures?
my answer so far: Factors that come into play when developing limits and guidelines would be the child’s age as I could not expect a baby to do
what a 4 year old would do, to explain the limits and guidelines in very clear terms especially for toddlers, making sure my
expectations are appropriate, making sure the limits and guidelines are consistent and with the abilities of all the children, I
need to ensure that limits describe what is acceptable behaviour, and when developing limits and guidelines I need to ensure
that they will help children grow towards self-control, establish positive behaviours that are socially acceptable, to make
appropriate choices and accept consequences for their decisions, to take responsibility for their actions, to express their
feelings in a positive way and to respect others.

I ensure that limits and guidelines are relevant to all cultural backgrounds and abilities of all children by making sure the
service is a place where children are happy, safe and secure, that I have identified, observed and recorded all the relevant
information on all the children.
Any feedback would be great
Thanks Rachael

Re: chcece020 Factors when developing limits & guidelines
Yes, that's a good response!
You could also add that when developing limits or children you will ensure all children have an understanding of your expectation by different means. For example: visually (using posters/images to represent the guideline), through discussions, through role play, through books etc.
Hope this helps!
