CHCECE004 - Government Resources That Promote Healthy Eating

Post by razza1 » Thu Aug 28, 2014 2:42 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCECE004 PROMOTE AND PROVIDE HEALTHY FOOD AND DRINK
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
List the three national government resources that are available to provide healthy eating information to families. Provide the objective of each?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Eat for Health Program - Australian Dietary Guidelines.
The Australian Dietary Guidelines are a joint initiative between the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Department of Health and Ageing. They provide recommendations (based on the latest scientific evidence) on how to eat a healthy diet which can improve the health of Australians and reduce the burden of preventable diet-related death, illness and disability.
The guidelines apply to all healthy Australians from the age of 6 months through to 70 years of age, as well as those with common health conditions such as being overweight.
Australian Guide to Healthy Eating
The Australian Guide to Healthy Eating is a food selection guide which visually represents the proportion of the five food groups recommended for consumption each day.
Get Up & Grow: Health Eating and Physical Activity for Early Childhood resources

The Get Up and Grow Healthy eating and physical activity for early childhood resources are an initiative of the Australian Government and were developed by a consortium of the Centre for Community Child Health (a department of the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and a key research centre of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute), Nutrition & Food Services at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, and Early Childhood Australia.

The resources are designed to be used in a wide range of early childhood settings by families, staff and carers, and to support a consistent, national approach to childhood nutrition and physical activity.

These healthy eating and physical activity resources are based on three key national health documents that focus on children, namely:
• The Australian Dietary Guidelines (2013) and the Infant Feeding Guidelines (2012), and
• The National Physical Activity Recommendations for Children 0 to 5 years.
• The Get Up & Grow resources recognise the rich cultural and religious diversity in Australia and the important needs of young children.

It seems like you are on the right track with your response.

As long as the healthy eating information is recognised nationally then it's fine and yes there is a lot out there!
