CHCECE001 Develop Cultural Competence - Cultural Identities

Post by ariana » Tue Feb 16, 2016 7:26 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCECE001 Develop Cultural Competence
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
How can educators obtain knowledge about the cultural identity of any Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and families currently involved in or receiving services from the children’s services organisation? (100-150 words)

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?

This is my answer:

Educators can obtain knowledge about the cultural identity of any Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children and families by communicating with the families of the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children, contacting the traditional owners or the elders of the families community and asking questions relating to their culture. Child care centres can also require new families to fill in a form about the child, including what their culture is and what events and/or practices are they involved in. Another way that educators can obtain knowledge of cultural identities is by researching cultural events that occur throughout the year and putting them into a calendar of events for the children, families and staff to celebrate.

I was just wondering if my answer was correct and if it could be improved in anyway.
