CHCCS400C - Statutory and Regulations Requirements For Educators

Post by chichi » Fri Aug 14, 2015 5:43 pm

Hi Lorina,

I'm doing second assignment the question is:
Student instructions
• Undertake internet research, and/or discuss with a peer or supervisor in your workplace or host organisation how the following statutory or regulatory requirements are connected with early childhood education and care services, and how they apply to your work role.
• In your own words, summarise how they are connected and the application of each in your work role.

This is one example I did can you please check if I'm answering it correctly and on the right track?

Child Protection laws

My answer: Child Protection Laws are in place to ensure that children are protected from physical harm, neglect and abuse. This is related to the role of an educator for instance if a court order has been issued against a parent about their rights visiting their child. The centre must be made aware of this so as educators, we could follow the order accordingly to protect the child.

Reference: Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services ‘Child Protection Legislation; (Retrieved from: https://www.communities.qld.gov.au/chil ... egislation)

There are quite a few of these laws in the question that I need to find on google. I'm having trouble finding these ones to relate to my role as an educator can you please guide me to the right direction?

-Fire and emergency laws
-Equal Opportunity laws

hope to hear from you soon. thank you.

This may help:

Managing Emergencies
Equal Opportunity Policy

BTW - I stated this new topic since it is a different assignment from your previous one. Rather than have it all together it's easier to have separate topics for assignments so the information can help out other students...

Thank you Lorina. I will keep in mind to add new topic next time :)

Did I answer the question right for child protection law? I'm trying to figure out if that is what the question is asking....

Thanks.

Yes, that's right! Also since working in childcare you are a mandatory reporter meaning if you are suspicious of any abuse being inflicted on a child it is your duty of care to report it to the authorities. Here is some more info:

Public Health Law, for childcare it is to promote the control of infectious diseases and prevent the spread of infectious diseases and this is done by knowing the exclusion periods for different infectious diseases which a child may contract:

Exclusion Periods For Infectious Diseases

For Local Government: NSW Childcare

For Environment Protection Law: Environmental Sustainability

Hope this helps,

Hi Lorina,

Thank you :) This helps alot.

I'm up to my second part of the the assignment Part B:

Part B – Australian Standards
Student instructions
• Use the Web to research the key Australian Standards applicable to early childhood education and care services shown in the table below.
• Discuss with a peer or supervisor in your workplace or host organisation where you are undertaking work placement, the connection and application of the Australian Standard in an early childhood education and care setting.
• In the table below identify the name of the Australian Standard, and then describe its connection and application in an early childhood education and care setting.

I'm having trouble with these standards:

AS/NZS 1841.1: 2007 --> This one I couldn't find relevant information to it shown up on my google search as "Portable Fire Extinguishers' but I cant get any relgulation in related to this and how it apply to early childhood education and care settings.
AS 2444: 2001 --> This one it shown up as the as "fire extinguishers and fire blanket" isn't this similar to the first one? I'm confused with the two

And these standards I'm not sure where I could get more information also to relate to the question. Could I please get some advice on where to find it and how it relate to my role as an educator please.
AS/NZS 3000: 2007/ Amdt 1:2009
AS 3786: 1993
AS/NZS 1754: 2010

For these you don't need to relate them to your role as an educator. You need to connect it to child care and how it applies. It's usually similar for all businesses...

Emergency Management Procedure
Fire Extinguishes
Electrical Installations
Fire Equipment
Childcare Restraints

Hi Lorina,

Thank you! Oh yes... I've been doing the previous question about relating my role and had that stuck in my head for this one. Thanks for the clarification I will adjust my answers. :)
