Age for self administration of asthma medication.

Hi,

In my assessment it asks if a four and a half year old can self-administer their asthma medication. I notice that the regulations say:

"A child over preschool age may self-administer medication under the following circumstances:
• written authorisation is provided by a person with the authority to consent to the
administration of medication
• the medical conditions policy of the service includes practices for self-administration of
medication." Guide to the National Law and National Regulations p. 61

However, the term "preschool" is confusing. In some Australian states "preschool" equals "kindergarten" in others. Can you clarify this please?

Over preschool age I would say is 5 years and above... Meaning a child at school. So the child would have to be 5 years or older to self administer their medication, in my opinion...
