Settling Katherine Into Care- Question 1a.

Post by jaya2013 » Tue Oct 20, 2015 9:18 pm

a) What advice would you give Amanda to address her concerns and talk about separation and increase her confidence in the service?

Can you please see if im on the right track? Also if i need to add anything to it?

ADVICE REGARDING SEPERATION & CONFIDENCE:

• Communicate with Amanda to find out what she is concerned about.
• Talk about the centres environment and its surroundings.
• How the centre is able to meet her needs.
• Show Amanda the centres daily plans for the days she wants Katherine to attend which are Tuesday and Thursday, also let her know how we go over the plans at the end of each day to make sure that all the children’s needs are met.
• Centre has an open door policy which means she can come and check up on Katherine whenever she likes or even contact the centre to ask and see how Katherine is doing.
• Putting together a regular morning routine every day. E.g reading a book together to help settle this into Katherines routine for easy adjustment.

2 STATEGIES FOR SUPPORTING BREASTFEEDING IN A SERVICE:

• Suggest to Amanda that we can add this (breast feeding) into Katherines day plan and advising her to do the following before feeding her the pumped breastmilk: Sit down, place her on my lap, read her a story, feed her the breast milk then sing to her a nursery rhyme, give her the comforter, which is the dummy to get her ready for nap time.
• By talking about Katherines likes and dislikes, I have shown Amanda interest and care towards Katherine and have listed what helps Katherine settle and that the centre makes sure all the children and their needs are being taken care of.
• Amandas breastfeeding has been supported by encouraging her to incorporate this as part of the child care centres setting technique for Katherine by encouraging her to use her comforters.

Please check if im on the right track, also if i need to add anything?

Thanks.
