Post by mjane » Sun Dec 13, 2015 5:54 pm

Hello,

Please any guidance to if I have answered this correctly would be appreciated, thank you so much

I did a simulation in which the child's were not being met.

Describe a situation where you recognised that the rights of a child were not being protected, what action did you take once you realised and how did you maintain the confidentiality of the client.

Example: A child did not receive medication at the correct time

b) Which principal was not being upheld when the 'right' was not being protected?
The principal not being upheld is - Child rights: the four key principles. - 2. The best interest of the child - Article 3.

c)Which legislation or codes of practice relate to this situation?
Code of conduct
Code of Ethics

d) Which policies and procedures relate to this situation?
Children's Health and Safety
Immunisation and management of illness policy
Medical condition policy

e) What strategy or problem solving technique did you use to deal with any competing values on this issue?
My first response was to give a friendly reminder in relation to the administration of medication, as my colleague continued with inappropriate behaviour/mistreatment, I then reported the issue to my supervisor

f) Who did you discuss the issue to fulfil your work role in a safe manner and clarify your resolution strategy?
All matters were discussed with my supervisor

g) What did you do to specifically maintain the rights of confidentiality of those involved?
I specifically maintained the rights of confidentiality of those involved by referring only to those people allowable, under the clause of confidentiality you could directly communicate with

h) Which guidelines and legal requirements relating to disclosure and confidentiality did you follow?
Privacy Act
QA2 Standard 2.1 Element 2.1.1 Each child's health need are supported

i) Describe your own personal values that relate to this situation.
My personal values uphold the rights to confidentiality in all situations where I work.
In relation to medication, I would ensure at all times I uphold and maintain the rights of all children.

j) Describe how you ensured non-judgemental practice.
I ensured my approach was non-judgemental by being aware of my own actions, making a conscious effort not to be critical of another actions.

Thank you

Kind Regards
