Scenario: India - 6 Week Infant

Post by Disara » Thu May 04, 2017 6:43 pm

Hi,

This is my question and answer

India, a 6 week infant, suddenly arches her back, throws her head back and spread her arms out and, started crying loudly.

Possible meaning - It is a sign of physical stress & if, it is soon after a feed it might be due to gastrooesophageal reflux.

Appropriate response - Take the child from cot and keep holding upright to assist burping, cuddle the child with rockey movements to make her feel that she is cared for & attended.

But this answer is returned, they comment:
India is showing a very specific reflex, please state what it is.

Could you please give me the correct answer.

Thank you.

Hi, I have got the same feedback for the question. I guess they want us to research The Moro or Startle reflex on page 87 of Learner guide 5 to make a better answer. Hope this helps.

My answer was "pick up and hold India in your arms and comfort her"
