Resources For Dramatic Play Centre

Post by young » Sun Jan 08, 2017 11:16 pm

Our Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCECE009 USE AN APPROVED LEARNING FRAMEWORK TO GUIDE PRACTICE
Your Assignment Type:
Your knowledge: Beginner

I am stuck on this question please guide me

question and answer:

Q: The EYLF states that when children explore different identities and points of view through dramatic play, they are demonstrating evidence of Learning: Children have a strong sense of identity - Children develop knowledgeable and confident self-identities.
List the resources you could provide in a dramatic play centre to facilitate children’s learning within this Outcome.

A: Display different cultures of families
Images of the families in the service

Feedback:
when you think of identities, you should think of the differences of each individual person within the centre e.g. cultures, religions, genders, job roles. List the resources you could provide in a dramatic play centre to facilitate children’s learning within this outcome.

My revised answer:

Display different types of children’s languages, relevant images, books and resources in play centre. Encourage children to take pride in their home language and culture.
Give children the opportunity to explore identity through dress ups and dramatic/pretend play.
Uses stories in picture books and film to share Indigenous values, responsibilities and spiritual beliefs with children from a range of cultural backgrounds. children from very different cultural communities can relate to the stories, unpack the meanings and make connections to their own family and cultural beliefs.
Encourage gender neutral toys and colours. Assist boys and girls to use tools and equipment that is conventionally used by the other gender. For example, encourage girls to use hammers and spades and boys to sew and cook.
Provide opportunities for girls’ groups to use traditional masculine play props and boys’ groups to use traditional feminine props.
Use language that supports gender equity and promotes positive messages about ways of being boys and girls. Avoid gender-specific language and statements such as ‘that’s a man’s job’ and ‘that’s not lady-like’.
Talk with children and invite them to reflect on gender through conversations and stories. Discuss with children how they play and how specific incidents in their play might have been affected by gender traditions or bias.
Exploring and developing job awareness through movie watching. Watch a movie together with a view to later discussing – perhaps over a meal – the different characters, their work/life roles.
Job role-playing game, for example, police officer, nurse, teacher etc.
Build a Lego neighbourhood or a town with houses, shops, garages and recreational spaces. In the process, talk about the different roles that people perform in an office tower, a house, a shop, a movie theatre, a university, a school, a train station, an airport or a child care centre.

I'm not sure if it's correct. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone can help me ?thanks.
