Id love some help with the last part to this question....
Research two theories that pertain to play and summarise their main concepts, including the role of play in learning.
Ive got this so far
Two theories that pertain to play are
- Developmental
This theory has been put together by many theorists like Jean Piaget, Rudolf Steiner, Maria Montessori and Howard Gardner that believe many assumptions of the way a child learns and then they set out to observe and record their theory's. Their individual theories are all based around and refer to the stages of development of a child as he or she meets the milestones.
Educators can use and adapt this theory when planning, by focusing on a child's learning and development individually, and can then break up into the areas of social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language.
If educators were basing their teaching around the developmental theory their practice would include these main concepts
- concentrating where a child is at developmentally and plan activities accordingly
- support and plan activities around what interest the child
- provide varied indoor and outdoor activities that offer scope for learning
- the use of the environment to self discover and learn.
- let children develop naturally with little adult direction
- the belief that children need time to grow and mature
